2x Sonos One VS 1x Sonos Five? Well, Depends - Vita Audio

2x Sonos One VS 1x Sonos Five? Well, Depends

Sonos has always been known for its high-quality audio products. The company offers speakers, soundbars, wireless headphones, and even smart home devices.

Recently, they launched their new line of speakers called One and Five. Which one should I get?

2x Sonos One VS 1x Sonos Five? Well, Depends

Sonos One speaker is a compact speaker designed to fit into smaller spaces such as bedrooms or living rooms. Its sleek design makes it perfect for those who want something portable.

On the other hand, the Sonos Five speaker is a larger version of the One speaker. It features a built-in subwoofer and comes with two satellite speakers.

Both models come with Bluetooth connectivity and support AirPlay 2. They also offer Alexa voice control. Both speakers feature Dolby Atmos surround sound technology.

If you plan to play music from multiple sources, then the Sonos One speaker is a better choice.

However, if you only need to listen to music in your bedroom or living room, then the Sonos Five speaker will be more suitable.

Sonos One vs Five

Two Sonos Ones are better than a single Sonos Five in most cases. In some cases, however, a single Sonos Five sounds better.

When comparing both these speakers, the five does triumph over the one as it’s much louder, provides improved sound frequency responses, and sounds better!

This is clear in the difference in price, which we’ll get into later.

Two pieces of Sonos One sound better than a single piece of Five. As long as you’re using them in your average-sized bedroom or living room.

Two Sonos Ones are more effective than a single Sonos Five. You should always get two one-inch speakers instead of a single five-inch speaker.

A five-inch speaker costs around $100, while a pair of one-inch speakers cost about $50. So you’re paying $150 extra for a bigger speaker. That’s too much. Get two one-inch speakers.

Two pieces of Sonos sound better than one piece of five. Two ones are not recommended for smaller living spaces because of the extra cost.

A five is recommended for large living spaces. It’s all dependent on where you’ll be using them and how big the space is.

Features

Sound Quality

You should choose the Sonos One if you want to listen to music while cooking or bathing, that’s the general recommendation when using these speakers.

The Sonos One is not necessarily a powerful enough speaker, but the tweeter and mid-woofer that it is equipped with, make up for this.

You won’t need anything else to enjoy your music. This is why it is most suitable to be used in kitchen and bathroom areas because of the size.

With the five, Sonos upgraded and went with the maximum three tweeters and three mid-woofers. This makes the five a well-equipped, full-featured speaker in the entire Sonos lineup.

It’s an absolute system. Two Sonos Ones are better than one Sonos One. This is because the sound quality is improved by using two speakers instead of one. It doesn’t sound very strong when used alone.

The Sonos Five Exploded view has a lot of great features. This makes the Sonos Five a very powerful speaker. Sonos also made this speaker available to everyone.

It’s a great piece of equipment. Two Sonos ones are incomparable. Their sound quality is unmatched by any other product.

They are also comparable to each other. They share the same features, but each one has its own unique qualities.

A great sound system requires a lot of space. In this case, you need to be sure to place your speakers in the corners of the room.

The Sonos one creates an artificial surround experience in the middle of the room. There is nothing more than that.

This Sonos system doesn’t work well enough to be recommended. The Sonos five looks great next to the TV, but the Sonos One sounds too weak for such an expensive product.

The Sonos One might be worth buying if you want to save money. However, the Sonos five should be your first choice for a soundbar.

Loudness

Sonos Ones are great for kitchen and bathroom use. They are also great for parties as they can easily reach drunken party levels.

However, if your walls aren’t thick enough, they may not be loud enough. If you happen to live in an apartment with a standard average soundproofing built into the walls.

Then the Sonos one would be a good choice, however, the five would be what you need to go for to create that loud party-level sound.

The difference between the two speakers isn’t negligible either, the five is going to absolutely triumph over the Sonos one in this instance.

Because an advantage you get with the five is that its richness in sound is powerful when it comes to the sound department for effective loudspeakers all around.

Sonos speakers offer great sound quality. But you may want to try other devices that give you better sound quality.

How Portable Do You Want Your Sonos To Sound?

The Sonos One is still the most affordable Sonos speaker available. You get a lot of bang for your buck here.

Especially if you’re looking for something to fill up a smaller room or play music throughout your house. But there are better options out there.

Whether you want a more powerful option or one that offers more flexibility, there are other speakers that offer more features at a lower price. Both have great sound quality.

The Sonos One is a great speaker because it doesn’t disturb your decor. You can easily slide it under your sofa or into another room. It comes with a powerful battery and some other speakers.

The Sonos One is the best speaker you can buy right now. It sounds great, and it’s easy to set up. It also looks pretty nice. The Sonos five actually has a similar design to the Sonos One.

Both speakers are very loud, but the five sounds better than the one because it has more power. The speaker has a wider sound stage, and cleaner delivery if it’s pointed at you.

Voice Assistants

One SL doesn’t offer voice assistants but does include microphones. It’s an improved version of the original One without voice assistants.

Unlike Five, in this case, which does not offer voice assistants at all. This could be the make it or break it decision between the two speakers.

If the voice assisting part of owning them is what you’re looking for overall, as well as the sound capacity.

AUX Input

The Five is equipped with an aux input, while the One doesn’t. This means that the Five can use speakers connected to it via aux cables. But the One can’t do this because it doesn’t have an aux input.

This is the type of input that can be used to power turntables and vinyl players etc. So, depending on the use of the speakers, you’ll want to keep this in mind.

What About [3x One’s] VS [1x Five + 1x One]?

We would recommend the latter option here, which is usually the case for very large living spaces.

Ideally, you want to see the speakers themselves before you make up your mind, so you can test the power and the sound yourself.

Also, you can truly make the final decision when testing them out in person, because you’ll see for yourself if 3x ones can compare with 1x five and 1x one.

The First Steps: Surround System Setup With Sonos One

Because the Sonos one has voice recognition through voice assistants, they recommend signing up and starting through the app when setting up the systems.

Therefore, a Sonos account must be created to get the full use out of the voice assistant features through Alexa or another voice assistant.

This makes sense, as the link between the speaker and the account enables the loudspeaker to work effectively.

Linking The App With Your Voice Assistant And Music

You can link your music account to the Sonos-specific application. The vast majority of Sonos devices are also Alexa enabled.

So you can use the same software as on the Echo devices. These skills work very well. Despite when the music overall is loud, Alexa reacts or will hear you.

The speakers themselves can easily be controlled through the voice assistant, which is exactly what you need when investing in a good quality speaker. This is where the Sonos One is a better option over the five.

Using The Voice Assistant In Everyday Life

Only once we had used the system for a while did we learn to absolutely adore the voice assistant feature support of the Sonos speakers.

You can turn off the lights in any room with “Alexa, light off”. Then you alert your number one favorite radio station or channel with “Alexa, play the music” or “Alexa, play…”.

If you have multiple Sonos One speakers, then Alexa can be used with them without any problems. Alexa is working perfectly fine! You can ask her to change the volume or switch on/off your TV.

This is the type of support and function you want to achieve through your voice assistant and your speakers.

You do pay for the convenience, so you may as well, get the correct speaker that is going to make your life more convenient.

Final Thoughts

A speaker system should always be paired up correctly. You should get a pair of 1’s when you want to listen to music that doesn’t need a lot of bass or treble. You should get a 5 when you want a more powerful sound.

In other words, get a pair of 1s when you’re going to play the music that requires a low volume and high quality, and get a 5 when you’re going to be playing loud music.

For smaller living spaces, the five is most likely going to be the best choice to make 9 times out of 10. Because these spaces have less ideal acoustics. For larger living spaces, the same applies.

Your Sonos system can deliver great sound quality. We hope this guide helps you unleash the full potential of your Sonos speakers.
